Like any other dog, Merrick is adorable, friendly, lovable, and obedient. Still, there’s one thing that makes him a bit different from his fellow canines. For five long years, Merrick has not been adopted in the shelter he’s living in and is still waiting for a permanent family to love him.
The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, the shelter taking care of Merrick, is doing everything they can to be a loving family for the dog. Also, they are making all the efforts needed to find him a permanent family.
The shelter has already posted Merrick’s photos, videos, and stories on social media, hoping that someone would be interested in him. But unfortunately, all these efforts have gone nowhere as no one, not even a single person, has expressed interest in Merrick. Even though the shelter staff is doing everything they can to be a family for Merrick while he remains unadopted, it cannot be denied that what he needs is a permanent family.
The shelter knows that the longer a dog stays in a shelter, the harder it would be for a dog to find a family. In Merrick’s case, having spent 1,675 days in the shelter with not a single person adopting him is already too much for him to bear. That is why the shelter decided to do something unusual and extraordinary to promote Merrick to the public. In an attempt to find him again a loving family, the shelter decided to put up a billboard for him, hoping that it would catch a lot of attention.
Of course, a billboard is undoubtedly not something new these days, but to use it as a tool to find a family for an unadopted dog is truly extraordinary. Merrick is so lucky to have a shelter that loves him so much that they are willing to do incredible things to find him a family. And hopefully, this time, this latest attempt would lead to finding Merrick a family that would shower him with love that he truly deserves.
