The supposed animosity between cats and dogs may not be real at all! If you don’t believe it, here’s a cute and heartwarming story for you.
A mixed-breed dog named Spike and his adorable cat companion called Max will teach to how to love life more and stick close to the ones who matter.
Spike and Max’s friendship
Spike, an eight-year-old blind dog, and his lifelong friend Max were surrendered by their former family to a shelter in Alberta, Canada named Saving Grace Animal Society. A shelter representative named Amanda McClughan told a news outlet that the cat and dog’s friendship likely started when they cuddled together for warmth. What made them huddle together was the fact that they had been living mostly outside.
Spike had suffered from painful cataracts, which eventually forced the removal of his eyes. At this point, the duo had become much closer together.
Instead of leading the blind dog anywhere, Max acted as a support cat. Amanda explained that Max provided the dog with comfort; since Spike could smell and feel the cat, he would feel less stressed and anxious.
The two found their new forever home together
In an effort to find the duo their new forever home, the shelter decided to feature them on their Facebook page. The said post had more than 600 likes and one thousand comments.
The shelter described Spike and Max in the cutest way possible. Spike was described as a happy-go-lucky boy who had a passion for life and is happiest when he could rest his head on someone else’s lap. Max, on the other hand, had been described as the yin to Spike’s yang. They were always together, which was why the shelter made it imperative that they should be adopted together.
And indeed, Spike and Max had been adopted together by a family living in Manitoba! After their adoption, the shelter posted an update where they wished the duo the best of luck.
