Many of us assume that animals can’t get along with other animals of different species. However, this is purely a myth. Animals, like dogs, can become friends and even bond with other animals. There are even dogs and cats that become best friends and become inseparable.
A 10-year-old Yellow Labrador named Fred is a special kind of dog. He’s special not because he’s a resident of the Mountfitchet Castle in the United Kingdom, but because he’s the adoptive dad for nine ducklings. It all started when a castle staff member spotted the ducklings wandering around the castle. Their mom was nowhere to be seen and everyone was worried that the ducklings would never survive.
However, Fred stepped in and introduced himself to the ducklings. He was very gentle with them and the ducklings quickly grew comfortable around Fred. Eventually, the ducklings started following Fred wherever he went. He was grooming them, teaching them how to play, and even letting them climb on his back while he’s laying down.
It soon became clear that Fred took on the role of an adopting dad for the baby ducks. It’s truly remarkable seeing Fred walk around the castle grounds with all the ducklings following him like he’s their mother. Of course, the staff members of the castle pitched in and helped Fred take care of the ducklings. They provided food for the ducklings and even a shelter for them to spend the night in.
Photos were taken of Fred with the ducklings and were shared on social media. Everyone was so touched that the Fred’s photos and story went viral. People even joked that the ducklings would eventually grow up barking. They praised Fred for being such a good boy and his actions for the orphaned ducklings shows that he really is one. Here’s a truly remarkable and heartwarming video featuring Fred and the ducklings he adopted.
