Dogs born with rare genetic conditions require special care. In most cases, these animals are abandoned by their owners because of the extra care they need to do for these dogs to keep them healthy. Special needs dogs also don’t get adopted often for the same reason.
A senior Chihuahua mix named Falkor was rescued from a hoarding situation. She had terrible anxiety and fear around humans because of her experience in her previous home. Falkor is also an albino dog, which means she needs special care to stay healthy.
Thankfully, a woman named Lauren volunteered to take care of Falkor. At first, Falkor was so terrified of Lauren that she acted aggressively towards her. Lauren needed to use a towel to handle Falkor because she tried biting her whenever she tried touching her.
Lauren couldn’t tell if Falkor was a puppy or a senior dog because of how she looked. However, after a trip to the vet, she was able to find out that Falkor was actually a senior dog. She can be a little grumpy and doesn’t do well with other animals, but she has a unique charm that made Lauren fall in love with her.
Lauren needed to be extra patient with Falkor. Eventually, Falkor realized that she was in a safe place, and Lauren was a good human that only wanted to take care of her. She started trusting Lauren more until she let her new mom pet her with her bare hands.
The funny thing about Falkor is that she didn’t look like any other dog. She resembled the luckdragon from the movie called NeverEnding Story, who shares her name. Lauren thinks she won the dog lottery when she adopted Falkor.
She’s so unique-looking that people would even ask if she was really a dog. Sometimes, she gets mistaken for a piglet or a baby goat because of her looks. Despite her condition, Falkor doesn’t let it affect her. She still loves playing in the yard and getting treats from her mom.
