A homeowner in Los Angeles, California was stunned when she saw a small shivering pup outside her porch. The poor dog was lying on her planter box and was not making any movements. She could see that the pooch was afraid, but it was probably too weak and hungry to run away.
She was most likely seeking shelter so she could rest her body. The woman didn’t know what to do, so she decided to call a charity rescue organization. They then immediately sent a team to help the dog out.
True enough, the dog was petrified, unable to move with all the people around her now.
The rescue
One of the rescuers tried to use a snap lead to keep the dog from running away. He passed it through some iron grills and tried to gently maneuver it over the pup’s head. He had to do it slowly because any sudden movements could cause the pooch to run. And she might get her neck stuck in the lead and hurt herself.
Seeing the lead coming near her, the pooch moved away and was soon backed into a corner. The rescuer slowly crept to the dog, even crouching down to ease her fears, and once again tried to get the lead over her head. This time, the dog couldn’t move anywhere.
She still didn’t know she was being rescued, so she was confused and frightened. With nowhere to go, she stood up and had her back to the corner. She would shake her head, but eventually, the lead was placed on her neck.
New life in a happy home
Confident that the dog could not run away, the man went near the pooch and put her in his arms. Once she was there, she realized that the man was out to save her and she relaxed. She put her head in her rescuer’s arms and lay on his lap. That was the start of her journey to a new life.
The dog was taken to their private shelter where she was fed and cleaned. Several weeks later, she was adopted. She is now named Mackenzie and lives in a loving home where she has a new sister named Stella. They play all day and have everything that any dog could ever ask for.
