Lando Aldridge, an eight-year-old kid from Alabama, is passionate about helping animals. At a young age, Lando began to sew and discovered he had a natural talent for it so he began making hats to sell then donated all the proceeds to Sanctuary Animal Rescue.
Masks of change
Lando extended on his first idea, “Hats for Cats,” by creating “Masks for Medical Workers.” When the COVID-19 outbreak started, his mother wanted to be honest and transparent with him as to what went on around the world. As a result, she kept him up to date on current events.
Lando told his mother on March 26th that he wanted to sew masks for the medical personnel. He also wanted other people to pay money for a mask, so he could donate to the Sanctuary Animal Rescue.
Lando and his mother discussed his plan more to ensure he was genuine about it. He previously crafted caps for animals, so this new project came as no surprise to his mother. After planning it all out, they soon started their new endeavor.
Lando’s mother took out the patterns and puts them together to make the masks while Lando did all of the sewings. The fabric they used was just gifted to them. They produced a large number of masks when the two of them work hard together.
New movement
Lando continued to provide masks to medical personnel in need, but he also sold to the general public. A child’s mask costs three dollars, while an adult mask costs four dollars. So far, he donated almost a thousand dollars to the animal sanctuary.
He’s only eight years old, but he already demonstrated more generosity and empathy than so other grownups. He was a true inspiration to people of all ages and he proved that anything was possible if you worked hard for it.
