A small dog sought for safety under an old automobile when his former family abandoned him. The car was so dusty that it had most likely been stored there for a decade. Someone ultimately noticed the dog and decided to help it out.
The Hope For Paws charity organization’s rescuers arrived to discover the dog afraid for his life. He growled at them as a warning to stay away, just as he had done before with others. The rescuers had to persuade him to cooperate with them.
The good news was that when the rescuers arrived, the dog still stayed under the car. The bad news was that he’d made it all the way to the back of the vehicle. He was facing the wall, and the automobile had been lowered to the point where crawling underneath it was impossible.
The rescuers had to think outside the box if they wanted to get him out. They began by erecting a temporary plastic barrier around the automobile. This would keep the dog from bolting after being yanked out from under the car.
A rescuer and the dog established a sort of “conversation.” It appeared as though he was negotiating with the dog, but it was all part of a ruse. He managed to get the dog to look in the direction he desired, and he snatched the dog at its neck using a snare quickly.
They were all expecting the dog to retaliate severely if he was caught. But there was nothing there, much to their dismay. The dog just sat there, waiting for something to happen.
They chose to play it safe and let the dog to its own thoughts while keeping the snare in place. They wanted him to know that they were not in any way a threat to him. If the dog’s silence was any indicator, he didn’t cause them any problems.
