Momo is a dog that was found as a stray wandering the streets of South Korea. When she was brought to a shelter, they noticed that the dog did not eat much and looked in pain when she defecated. They had her checked out and they discovered that she has a malformation. She was born without an anus.
They figured out that Momo was previously owned by someone but was abandoned later on. This could be because they couldn’t take care of the dog or they didn’t think that her condition was treatable. Thankfully, the poor dog was taken home by a foster mom who vowed to help her get over her ordeal.
Everything is fixable
The first thing the dedicated mom did was to take her to a clinic and assess the situation. Momo had to undergo several tests so that the vets could get a proper diagnosis. They discovered that the dog did not develop a canal and a hole where her waste could exit. But with the technology that was now available, they knew that everything was fixable.
They scheduled surgery for the dog knowing that any delays could make her condition worse. This could mean a more difficult procedure which heightened the chances for failures.
During the surgery, they also discovered that her internal tissues near the reproductive area had already become fibrous. Because of the lack of anus, the waste was going out through her reproductive organ. They had to be more careful in operating in that area as it became too stiff. It took the dedicated vets several hours to complete the operation, but thankfully, Momo came out well.
Forever home
They were not sure though if the procedure was a success.
Momo had to rest for three weeks before she was strong enough to go out for a walk and do her business on her own. Her muscles were too weak then and they couldn’t determine if the surgery worked. Fortunately, it did.
Everybody was ecstatic with the new development and they know now that Momo will lead a better life. They pray that she will find eventually her forever home and Momo will live a long and happy life.
