An aircraft crashed on September 22, 2021, roughly 30 miles southwest of Page, Arizona. The plane took off from San Martin, California, and started to descend towards Arizona City. The cause of the plane accident is yet unknown.
The aircraft was a private plane with two people and one dog on board. The pilot immediately died in the crash, while the passenger was severely wounded. The dog survived but fled in a panic shortly afterward. Fortunately, authorities were able to locate the frightened and distressed puppy.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location around 9:25 p.m. The pilot was confirmed as Jim Petersen, while the passenger was identified as Uta Petersen.
Currently, the National Transportation Safety Board is actually investigating what caused the accident. While searching the plane wreckage, officials found a dog, who appeared disoriented. When someone approached the canine, he fled in terror.
The authorities rushed Uta Petersen to a hospital in Utah, but her condition has not yet been disclosed. On the other hand, the body of Jim Petersen was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office for further examination.
Authorities returned to the area three days later and found the dog. The canine sat alongside the wreckage, but when he saw the helicopter land, he bolted. The team used water to entice the dog to come to them, and they restrained him with a leash to prevent him from fleeing again.
The dog was tired, hungry, and thirsty, but otherwise, he was in great shape despite everything. He didn’t appear to have suffered any severe injuries as a result of the incident. His survival was nothing short of miraculous.
The air rescue team flew the puppy to Page Airport, his original destination. Coconino County officials then reunited the puppy with his family members. It may take a considerable time for him to recover from this terrible accident, especially that he was friends with the humans on board.
