A man named Ricky moved to a different city to start a new life. Ricky recalled that he was browsing the newspaper when he saw an ad from an animal shelter about dogs that are ready for adoption.
Ricky admitted that seeing the ad in the newspaper felt like the universe was convincing him to adopt a dog because he was already feeling alone in his new home, and believed that a puppy’s companionship would make him happier. Ricky went to the shelter the following morning and saw an overwhelming number of pups who needed a home.
Ricky recalled seeing a black Labrador who instantly stole his heart. Ricky inquired about him, and he was told that Ray is an intelligent pup who knows how to follow commands, but he will need time to get used to him since he is still a stranger to the dog.
Ricky shared that he did not mind that Ray would take a while before he opens up, so he decided to adopt him. The shelter workers also gave Ricky new toys, a free doggy couch for Ray, as well as a special letter from Ray’s previous owner.
Ricky saw that Ray was acting rebellious in his first few weeks at home, but he decided to understand Ray’s situation instead. Ricky extended his patience for Ray because he wanted him to feel at home, but Ray just would not budge.
Ricky was about to return Ray until he remembered the letter that came along with his dog. Ricky opened the letter and found out that the pup’s name is actually Tank, who was named after where his soldier dad works.
The letter stated that Tank loved to play tennis ball, and be rewarded with fried chicken whenever he follows commands. Ray decided not to return the dog and started calling him Tank. Ricky followed the tips that Tank’s previous owner gave, and Tank transformed into a happier dog who does everything he is told.
