Dogs need a lot of love and affection, most especially when they fall ill. The thing is, in spite of all the love, most of these fur babies still feel anxious every time they are sent to the vets. In one clinic in Russia, stressed dog patients just found their unlikely nurse – a sweet and playful rescue raccoon called Yasha.
Aleksei Krotov, a veterinarian based in Rostov-on-Don, always wanted to have a pet raccoon. He and his wife finally found one in the Krasnodar areas. The couple instantly fell in love with the said animal that suffered living in unfavorable conditions. They decided to adopt her and showered her with love and affection.
It seems as though Yasha, the raccoon, wanted to pay forward the affection she received from her new family. Sometime after her adoption, she started hanging out at Aleksei’s clinic. It turned out, Yasha is the perfect veterinary assistant Aleksei did not know he needed.
At first, Yasha just stayed at the clinic. But as time progressed, she demonstrated empathy towards sick animals who are brought down the clinic for therapy. Aleksei also observed that Yasha could easily calm the dogs. It’s as if her presence lessens their distress right before a shot or a check-up.
Because of her gift of comfort for the dog patients, Yasha won the hearts of locals, most especially dog owners who worry about their stressed dogs. Somehow, Yasha made the treatments easier. Cats, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to welcome Yasha’s presence.
Yasha’s popularity remains up to this day. She even has fans, some visit the clinic just to see her. The clinic continues to treat animals, and up to this day, Yasha remains to be a reliable vet assistant that Aleksei can count on. With Yasha by their side, Dog patients have company that will ease their tension and anxiety.
