Owning a dog comes with numerous responsibilities. It’s not just about feeding them and playing with them. It’s a full-time commitment that includes giving them healthcare and the costs that come with it. One heartless dog owner from California learned this the hard way when she was charged with multiple cases, including animal neglect.
The unnamed woman dumped her dog in Newport Beach in California when she can no longer care for her pet Golden Retriever. The dog had a 46-pound tumor growing on his side, and it was making it difficult for him to walk. Concerned citizens saw the dog and called animal control.
A successful operation
Animal Control Supervisor Valerie Schomberg was shocked when he saw Henry. The dog was moving, but it was obvious that he was favoring one side. The bulge was massive, and the weight was dragging him. And despite his condition, the dog seemed to be happy.
Valerie brought the sweet and affectionate dog to the shelter and showed her to a vet. They were moved by the dog’s demeanor, which somehow indicates that she was someone’s pet before. Doctor Karla Nichols said that Henry needs immediate surgery so that no further complications may happen. They could see the discomfort he was suffering despite his joyful exterior.
Through the help of the community, and thanks to a grant that Valerie was able to secure, Henry went into surgery merely five days after he was rescued.
The operation was a success, and Henry healed fast. His weight drastically dropped to 78 pounds, and he was now an even happier dog. The transformed pooch was so grateful for the help that he got that he kept kissing everyone around him. And not only that, Valerie was able to find a foster home for him too.
Hopefully, a new forever home is coming for Henry. Click the link for the video.
